Thompson Technique
Table assisted adjustments that allow the practitioner to maintain the alignment of the spine while returning vertebra to their proper position. This technique was developed by Dr. J. Clay Thompson a 1947 graduate of Palmer.Thompson has been proven to be a most effective and safe method of adjusting patients of all ages. Gravity assists in the adjustment allowing it to be a lower force method. The table is set to each individual person’s body so it is a very personalized technique.
Activator Technique
This is a tool assisted adjustment. Developed by Dr’s Warren C. Lee, DC and Arlan W. Fuhr, DC in the 1960’s. Activator technique is a very low force technique that utilizes a full body protocol for determining what vertebra is misaligned and the direction needed for correction. Activator is a very light force technique.
Diversified Technique
This is the traditional, twist them like a pretzel, technique. Taught in almost every chiropractic college this is one of the original techniques used to remove the subluxation (vertebra in misalignment). Dr. Burgess was lucky enough to be trained by Dr. Alfred States who wanted us to know 3 ways to move every bone in the body using Diversified. This technique is for those who like to “hear” the release of nitrogen from the joint space – the popping.
Extremity Adjusting
Yes, sometimes your feet, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands even need to be adjusted. We use the appropriate technique – Herron method, Charette protocol, activator, or drop table – that works best for your body needs. This is a very specific technique for the correction of misalignment of the small bones of the body.
Cupping Technique
Using small plastic cups that create a vacuum like suction to treat acupuncture points as well as pull the blood up to the surface of the skin which allows a healing process to take place to the area the cups are applied. The suction from the cops pulls up the deep tissue that releases adhesion allowing your muscles to move without restrictions activating the lymphatic system and clears up blood vessels
Graston Technique
This technique is a way of using tools to perform myofascial release. This is a powerful tool for the treatment of old injuries, tendonitis, plantar fascitis, carpal tunnel, frozen shoulder, etc. It is also extremely useful for sprained ankles/wrists – returning the athlete to performance quickly (usually within days).
Acupuncture
This science has been used for thousands of years in Asia and is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine used to prevent and treat diseases. Restoring your neuro-musculoskeletal system is our focus at Burgess Chiropractic. Since the body is an integrated whole made up of parts – thus the yin/yang. When the flow of energy – qi – is blocked then the body cannot communicate with the brain. Acupuncture is performed to remove the blockages allowing the free flow of qi through the body to allow the body to heal itself.
